Stereotypes List
Stereotypes are as common as there are phrases in the English Language. Let us look at some of these stereotypes in the following article.
Stereotypes. What would we do without them? Stereotypes are not really taken in a positive light, that much we all know. Which is probably the right thing to do, really. Generalizing something is never good and that is what stereotypes threaten to do. There is the negative connotation to it - 'The tried and tested', 'The hackneyed', 'The clichés' et all. But they have come to be for one reason. They are based on something that is noticed in the first instance and then generalized to create a whole theory around it. The theory of course sticks because it is the simplest way to explain something. Barring the intellectuals, who are in the search of finding a better and more expensively worded explanation for every possible concept, the stereotypes list works at the grass root level (if you know what I mean). It focuses on the common man and tries to bring out those qualities in him that are 'stereotypical', 'the protocol'.
How is that a correct attitude to things? It isn't. And while intellectuals would probably look at this list as a degeneration of vocabulary or eloquence in speech in the English language; the truth is that stereotypes exist. No matter how cleverly worded, or left at their simplest best.
Drawing your attention to these, here are some of the most common stereotypes that there are in this world. These deal with people and cultures, with sexes and communities.
Disclaimer ~ The stereotypes listed below have not been formulated by the author. They have merely been taken from different sources and listed. Moreover, they are not meant to poke fun at any community, class or sex. That is not the intention of the author in any way.
