How to Make Magnesium Oil at Home

How to Make Magnesium Oil at Home
There are several benefits that the application of magnesium oil leads to. In this following Buzzle piece, we will go into the details of the benefits, the methods of preparing the oil at home, and the correct method of the application of the same.
Handy Tip
It is not necessary to refrigerate the magnesium oil after it has been prepared.

Magnesium is an extremely important element required by the human body. In fact, it is required for the smooth functioning of every cell in the human body. The consumption of this nutrient is necessary for the health of bones, teeth, joints, and muscles, and in reducing stress and achieving optimal sleep.

However, due to the lifestyles that we follow today, we don't get the necessary levels of this nutrient in the most natural ways; in addition to which, the natural sources of magnesium are fast depleting. Magnesium is most naturally found in the soil and as trace elements in water. Our contact with soil is almost nil, and our water is purified to such an extent that it leads to the elimination of magnesium completely. A deficiency of this nutrient results in several negative reactions and affects the overall functioning of the body, seeing as how it is important for the health of every single cell in the body.

One of the easier ways of ensuring that we achieve the daily supplement of magnesium required by our bodies is by the application of magnesium oil. In fact, magnesium is more readily absorbed by our bodies through the surface of the skin than when it is ingested. Similarly, even though Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) are added to baths to increase magnesium levels in the body, magnesium oil is known to be more easily absorbed. Magnesium oil is readily available in stores; however, it is much more economical (and fairly simple) to make the same at home. How does one go about doing this? The recipe for how to make magnesium oil and the technique for the right application of the same has been explained in the following sections.
Magnesium oil ingredients collage
Ingredients

► Water, ½ cup
► Magnesium chloride flakes, ½ cup

You Will Also Need

► Spray bottle (glass or plastic)
► Glass bowl
► Spoon
► Non-aluminum saucepan

Instructions

► Boil the water in a non-aluminum saucepan.

► Place the magnesium flakes in a glass bowl.

► Pour the water into the glass bowl and stir till the flakes have completely dissolved.

► Let the mixture cool before you transfer it into the spray bottle.

How to Use

► Spray it directly onto the skin and lightly rub it in.

► It will feel moist and oily immediately after it has been applied. This will be absorbed into the skin within 10-20 minutes.

► It may leave a white film on the surface after it has dried completely. You can simply rub this off with a cloth.

► Start out by using 8-10 sprays of the liquid on your skin. Slowly increase this to as many as 20-30 sprays in a day.

► If you're using the oil for the first time, there will be a tingling or stinging sensation as soon as you apply the spray. It will take a few applications for this sensation to completely desensitize. This reaction is to be expected.

► In some cases, application of the spray on the fatty areas like the stomach, thighs, and the hips is known to cause less stinging. Avoid the creases of elbows and the bottom, the neck, and the area behind the knees―these areas are more sensitive than the rest of the body and might cause more stinging.

► If you've shaved your legs or hands, do not apply the oil immediately after, as it will cause a lot of burning. It is recommended that you wait for at least 12 hours after you've shaved.

► After the application, it is necessary that you wait for at least 30-40 minutes before taking a shower. This will ensure that the magnesium has been fully absorbed into the skin and is not rinsed off.

Tip
Application of magnesium is known to loosen the stools, so if you need to know if you're using the correct amount, observe the stools: if they have turned too loose, you will have to reduce the number of sprays.

Magnesium oil is not only a great way to ensure that you are getting the required supplement of magnesium by the body on a daily basis, but by preparing it at home, you're also saving money. Win-win. Great way to bring in the health benefits, don't you think?
